During the first phase of the exhibition, Sylvie Lacerte, Jacob Wren, and Richard Martel presented conferences. Ces trois pi\u00e8ces cr\u00e9\u00e9es \u00e0 des p\u00e9riodes diff\u00e9rentes de la pratique de Frenkel, mais pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es encore jusqu\u2019\u00e0 tout r\u00e9cemment, sont des exemples remarquables de la d\u00e9marche performative que Frenkel m\u00e8ne depuis les 40 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Du spoken word avant la lettre, car Frenkel est aussi po\u00e8te, aux nouveaux m\u00e9dias, en passant par ses installations, l\u2019artiste n\u2019a jamais appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 les \u00e9tiquettes pour d\u00e9crire son travail, afin d\u2019\u00e9viter les cat\u00e9gories trop restrictives. Her 2007 publication, <em>La m\u00e9diation de l\u2019art contemporain<\/em>, is based on her doctoral thesis and she has given numerous talks in Qu\u00e9bec, Canada, Europe and in Asia, most recently at the 9 Evenings in Istanbul. Her writings have been widely published in academic journals, exhibition catalogs and anthologies. She has taught at UQAM, McGill University and Universit\u00e9 Laval in Qu\u00e9bec. In 2010 she organized, as a guest curator at the SBC Gallery for contemporary art the exhibition <em>Vera Frenkel. His books include: <em>Families Are Formed Through Copulation<\/em>, <em>Revenge Fantasies of the Politically Dispossessed<\/em> and <em>Polyamorous Love Song<\/em>, a finalist for the 2013 Fence Modern Prize in Prose and one of The Globe and Mail\u2019s 100 best books of 2014. As co-artistic director of Montreal-based interdisciplinary group PME-ART he has co-created the performances: <em>En fran\u00e7ais comme en anglais, it\u2019s easy to criticize<\/em>, <em>Individualism Was A Mistake<\/em>, <em>The DJ Who Gave Too Much Information<\/em> and <em>Every Song I\u2019ve Ever Written<\/em>. Martel has written and published extensively on performance based practices and he is the founder of the magazine <em>Inter, art actuel<\/em> where he is the chief editor. He has published widely and his most well known publications include <em>Art Action<\/em> (2005) and <em>L\u2019art dans l\u2019action \/ l\u2019action dans l\u2019art \u2013 Textes <\/em>(2002-2012), (2013). He is the founder and director of the artist-run center Le Lieu as well as the <em>Rencontre internationale d\u2019art performance<\/em> (RIAP) in Quebec City. His work has been presented internationally. Since the late 1970s, she has been involved in individual, duo and collective work that combines performative actions, incidental rituals, relational practices, infiltrative art and furtive actions. She has been involved with numerous artist-run centres, including La Chambre blanche, Quebec City (1978\u20131982), Les Ateliers convertibles, Joliette (1990\u20131996), DARE-DARE, Montreal (1997\u20132001) and Praxis Art Actuel, Sainte-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se (2009\u20132011). Tourangeau has also published artist\u2019s books and more than fifty articles on performance art. She worked with the collective TouVA (Anne B\u00e9rub\u00e9, Victoria Stanton, and Sylvie Tourangeau) on a publication entitled <em>Le 7e sens : Practicing Dialogues \/ Practicing Workshops \/ Practicing the Daily Performative \/ Pratiquer l\u2019art performance<\/em>, published in the spring of 2016.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow
